Richard Sherman reacts to Dez Bryant signing with New Orleans Saints

Bryant spent the majority of his career in Dallas playing on the outside, though he played more snaps than usual in the slot previous year.

Last season was Bryant's best since he caught 88 passes for 1,320 yards and 16 TDs in 2014, which at the time was his third consecutive season with at least 1,200 yards receiving. ESPN's National Football League insider Adam Schefter also reported the move Wednesday afternoon.

New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis is more or less legendary in his ability to navigate the salary cap, and he's done it again in signing former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant. "I know he'll help their team". Bryant worked out for the Saints along with Brandon Marshall and Kamara Aiken earlier in the week but left New Orleans without a contract.

Instead, the former Cowboys wideout will get to focus on what he's done best as he physically wore down over his last two seasons in Dallas - provide a big, competitive target for Brees in the red zone as the Saints seek to lock down a first-round bye in the playoffs and a clear path to the Super Bowl. He signed his last Cowboys contract right after that, but has not approached that level of production since - a central reason Dallas released him in April.

It will be interesting to see how the rest of Bryant's season goes with the Saints. He previously met with the Browns and Ravens.

New Orleans (7-1), which has won seven straight and leads the NFC South Division, didn't necessarily need another receiver.

In New Orleans, Bryant will likely be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver along with promising rookie Tre'Quan Smith, who posted 11 catches for 196 yards and 3 touchdowns over the past four games after Ginn was injured.

The Saints will play at the Cowboys on November 29.

"They're getting a great receiver".

"Dez has been a really good player in this league for a long time and there's certainly a skillset he has that is going to be beneficial", Brees said.

For now, we'll have to wait to see how Bryant will be used in the Saints' stacked offense. I think at the start of the season, we weren't in that position, and then all of a sudden a couple of guys get nicked up and there becomes a place for him.
