USA border agents pushed Migrants back with tear gas and rubber bullets

The dozens of migrants were apparently part of the caravan that is seeking to come into the United States, and they were detained after crossing the border near San Ysidro, California.

While arguing Monday that the use of tear gas on hundreds of migrants and asylum-seekers near the US border the previous day was justified, a Fox News commentator asserted: "It's natural".

Chief Patrol Agent of the Border Patrol's San Diego Sector explained on CNN that the officers at the border emitted tear gas because they were threatened by people entering illegally.

The San Ysidro border post across from Tijuana - the busiest crossing on the US-Mexico border - was closed to traffic and pedestrians for several hours following the incident.

Mexican police, some wielding shields, scattered migrants and protesters, many of whom rushed toward the US border.

Mexico's Interior Ministry said it would immediately deport those who tried to "violently" enter the US from Tijuana.

Mexican authorities have also announced that some 500 migrants will be deported for allegedly trying to "violently" and "illegally" cross the US border on Sunday.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said in a statement some migrants "attempted to breach legacy fence infrastructure along the border and sought to harm CBP personnel by throwing projectiles at them".

CARAVAN CHAOS: Over 50 Migrants ARRESTED After STORMING US-Mexico Border
Mexico to shore up border security, deport migrants who tried to enter U.S.

Groups of Central American migrants have been converging on the Mexican border city for days in their quest to gain entry to the United States. "We have a shared border, and of course a shared concern for the safety and security of both communities in Tijuana and the San Diego area", said Provost.

Most recently, Trump reiterated his threat to close the entire southern border "if need be" - while telling Congress once again to "fund the WALL!".

The migrant caravan has been camped out in Tijuana for the past two weeks.

"We can't have all these people here", Mujica said.

The group, part of a migrant caravan, were soon stopped near the U.S. border by Mexican authorities, who told them to wait for permission before the stand-off took place.

On Sunday in Tijuana, hundreds of caravan members including women and children protested peacefully. He went on to suggest that it would be "very SMART" if Mexico stopped the caravans before they arrived at the border, "or if originating countries would not let them form (it is a way they get certain people out of their country and dump in U.S. No longer)".

Democrats and other critics called the Trump administration's use of tear gas toward the migrants an overreaction and blamed the administration for rejecting efforts to address larger immigration issues.
