Ohio State University football coach Urban Meyer to announce retirement

Meyer, who had a "core values" banner in the locker room demanding his players treat women with respect, apologized to Ohio State fans following word that he would be suspended.

Ohio State will hold a press conference at 2 p.m.to make the announcement.

Day reportedly turned down a head-coaching offer from Mississippi State and the Tennessee Titans' offensive coordinator role to stay at Ohio State after last season and is now getting the opportunity to lead the Buckeyes as the head man.

Recruitment: Ohio State's battle for Young came down to the local school, Maryland, and another national power in Alabama.

His salary for coaching football at OSU is $7.6 million for the 2018 season.

If this is Meyer's final coaching job, how his career will be remembered will be determined through the prism in which it is viewed.

Ohio State finished the 2018 season at No. 6.

Look, everyone knew Urban Meyer's time at Ohio State was coming close to an end because he'd gone all Urban Florida on us.

At Ohio State, however, that's kind of hard because OSU has had a College Football Hall of Fame head coach at the helm for 67 of the last 68 years.

Deontay Wilder retains heavyweight crown after Fury thriller ends in draw
Supporters felt Fury had done enough to win the bout, outboxing the reigning champion despite being knocked to the canvas twice. Until Wilder's sensational final round knockdown, Fury appeared to be heading for what would have been a remarkable upset.

So far, China's actions in this regard have been fully recognized by the worldwide community including the United States. The two leaders also exchanged views on the Korean Peninsula situation and other major worldwide and regional issues.

Meyer's retirement comes on the heels of a tumultuous year in Columbus, Ohio, in which he was suspended for the first three games of the season after an investigation revealed that he mishandled domestic assault allegations made against former wide receivers coach Zach Smith, who was sacked in late June. He heads into the game with an 82-9 record during his Ohio State tenure, including a flawless record over archrival MI.

Hell, there were plenty of pundits who thought hiring Urban Meyer was a gamble. If Florida State is mired in mediocrity for the next two years, they could pull the plug and chase Meyer to see if he'd be interested in returning to the Sunshine State.

He played quarterback at the University of New Hampshire from 1997 to 2001 for Chip Kelly, who was the offensive coordinator at the time.

Things are about to get much more serious, however, as imagination turns to reality.

Doing "just fine" isn't really the goal, however, which is why making as seamless a transition as possible is also important.

As of now United Kingdom has four commitments for 2019 out of OH - safety Moses Douglass and defensvie tackle Isaiah Gibson from Springfield; wide receiver JaVonte Richardson from Maple Heights and defensive tackle Cavon Butler from Toledo. With or without Meyer to contend with, that's not likely to change.

Following a legend is never ideal, nor is losing one.

So, how does that affect Penn State and the rest of the Big Ten?

"Can you say for sure you'll be back next year at Ohio State?" a reporter followed up.
