Microsoft Muzzles Cortana During Windows 10 Setup, Moves To Kill Passwords

We know remembering a PIN can be tricky, so we wanted to provide our Microsoft account users with a revamped Windows Hello PIN reset experience with the same look and feel as signing in on the web.

Back from the holidays and welcoming the new year, the Windows development team has this evening released a fresh new Windows 10 2019 Preview Build. In addition to some under the hood changes and improvements, Microsoft is pushing for a password-less sign-on experience for all Windows 10 versions starting with this build. These devices include PC, Xbox One, tablets, and phones.

Microsoft baffles Windows 10 users by apparently collecting data about recently opened websites and apps when users have opted against sharing that information.

In the meantime, it will ask you not to upgrade to the latest Windows 10 update if you have one built-in account with admin privileges as it might block all the admin functions.

In her op-ed, Tlaib wrote that "We already have overwhelming evidence that the president has committed impeachable offenses". Much of the media has been excited about Tlaib and Ilhan Omar becoming the first Muslim women elected to Congress.

This latest build also features a streamlined PIN reset experience for Windows Hello and improvements to the Narrator. It is also working with the Fast Identity Online (FIDO) working group to update Windows Hello with physical FIDO2 security keys that allow for more secure authentication.

With the rise of biometric security in a number of fields, it's likely that other tech giants will eventually follow Microsoft's lead and eliminate traditional passwords in favor of face scans, fingerprints, tokens, or other options. Instead, you will have to wait for it to finish talking instead of being able to just skip a certain part.

At the moment, Windows 10 makes up 39.22 per cent of all personal computing devices, but also 45.5 per cent of all Windows devices (some personal computers run Linux and other Oss, which is why there is a discrepancy in the numbers). During subsequent log-ins, you will be using Windows Hello to access your account. Users no longer need to download language packs to add voices in other languages.

Tucked away in the list of general changes is the text: "Based on feedback, if you clean install Pro, Enterprise, or Education editions of Windows, the Cortana voiceover will be disabled by default". It means there are still tens of millions of people using the older Windows 7, which will undergo planned obsolescence in January 2020.
