Barcelona Planning Potential Coutinho Sale?

Barcelona are planning to sell Philippe Coutinho, just a year after making a €140 million move from Liverpool. Coutinho was a big-money arrival at the Nou Camp last January as he left Liverpool in a £142m deal.

He has scored six goals from 23 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign but has been heavily criticised by some quarters at the club.

There was recently a rumour doing the rounds that Manchester United were in for the former Inter Milan man and although that does seem unlikely, it would come as a loss to Liverpool if it did come to fruition.

The 31-year-old is only the second player to reach 400 goals across Europe's top five leagues, following on from Cristiano Ronaldo who has scored 409 league goals 507 games in England, Spain and Italy.

With ranking club staff addressing the situation publicly and his agents reportedly firing back privately, Coutinho's status with the Barcelona squad feels like it's at a crossroads.

If things don't change, a hard decision will surely be considered at the end of the season. He did reverse that take slightly, following up with, "But he is a player which we consider as a starter and will be very important for us in the remainder of the season, for sure".

The 26-year-old was on target against Levante in the Copa del Rey in midweek but that was his first goal since October.

"He also gave his feedback on Ousmane Dembele and said When Dembele wasn't playing, everyone was asking me about him".

"But, in principle, we are happy with what we have and I am focused on the players we have here". However, Barcelona demonstrated their superb quality for the game's opening goal after 18 minutes.

Luis Suarez grabbed the lead for Barça in the 19th minute with a curling finish following a through ball from Philippe Coutinho, 1-0.
