Why Zion Williamson’s Knee Injury Sent Nike Shares into a Tailspin

He just recorded Duke's first triple-double in 13 years.

The Germany-based apparel company Puma deleted a tweet that appeared to use Duke star Zion Williamson's shoe-related injury last night to advertise their own line of basketball shoes. And we know he doesn't have any intentions of graduating right now, so the four-year scholarship doesn't do anything for him.

Several NBA players are offering unsolicited advice to Duke star Zion Williamson after Williamson suffered what Blue Devils coach Mike Krzyzewski called a mild knee sprain Wednesday night in a game against North Carolina.

It was pretty insane to see what happened to Williamson's shoe on Wednesday.

Like Williamson, Cousins was a highly-touted college freshman. But ever since the National Basketball Association instituted an age restriction in 2006, players have needed to be at least 19 (and one season removed from high school graduation) to be draft-eligible.

While the basketball world waited for an update on Williamson's condition, his teammates struggled without him.

In talking about what Williamson brings to the table, Williams did not hold back.

In contrast, the low-key Barrett typically prefers to let his play speak for itself.

"First, I want to wish him all the best", George said. "You enjoy the experience (of college)", he said.

"Outside of that, I don't necessarily know what happened".

Williamson averages 22.4 points, but his impact goes well beyond scoring. He's reached double figures in all 25 games of his college career, has never finished with fewer than 13 points and has scored at least 20 in all but seven games.

While many were obviously concerned with Williamson's health, others also took note of the fact that this shocking turn of events took place in some Nike footwear. I take pride in that. "It's just unfortunate, especially on a big-time game like that". When the Warriors come through, fans pour out to see Steph and to see KD.

A week for in-state ACC rivalries tips off with No. 3 Virginia's visit to No. 20 Virginia Tech in ESPN's Big Monday matchup ... the Cavaliers claimed the first meeting of the season between the teams by an 81-59 score on January 15 in Charlottesville as De'Andre Hunter tallied 21 points and Ty Jerome added 14 points and career-high 12 assists ... Though Duke's contract with Nike isn't public, the Durham school is one of Nike's most important basketball partners. "He's a different cat in that regard, so I do think if he can play and he's good to go, I don't think Zion is going to leave his teammates hanging like that".
