'Majority of Real Madrid players have delivered, some have not', says Solari

Although Solari will take charge of Madrid's La Liga game at Real Valladolid on Sunday, reports say he could be dismissed next week.

The Portuguese, sacked by Manchester United in December previous year, has been linked with a return to the Bernabeu with Santiago Solari's future in doubt after Real crashed out of the Champions League this week.

Solari was around 80 minutes late to his news conference, prompting some to speculate that he had held a discussion with senior players amid talk of an argument between captain Sergio Ramos and president Florentino Perez.

Solari's days were always expected to be numbered thanks to the club's inconsistent form this season, which sees them sitting in third place in the LaLiga table, 12 points behind leaders and arch-rivals FC Barcelona.

Seedorf, who played for Real from 1996 to 1999, was at the Bernabeu this week to watch Madrid crash out of the Champions League to another one of his former sides, Ajax.

It makes the contract he signed back in October, which doesn't run out until 2021, look absolutely foolish, especially given Real's penchant for sacking managers at the best of times.

Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has announced he will not run for president in 2020 . It's unclear how much money Bloomberg is willing to plunge into the effort.

"I give you [the] same answer as my first day here: we are all passing through here, and the most important for any coach, any team, is the next game".

The Portuguese tactician was appointed as the manager of Real Madrid back in 2010 after he led Inter Milan to a historic treble.

"I am the coach and tomorrow, our obligation, mine in particular, is to go there and do the best we can", Solari said.

"The ones who haven't, I have told them", he said when asked if his squad had been up to scratch recently.

Real Valladolid: This team's only goal is to avoid relegation, and sitting just three points clear is far from a comfortable position to be in.

Solari walked into Wednesday's Champions League game against Ajax with a knife over his head as rumours of a successor for the job have already been doing the rounds.
