Nick Kyrgios 'wanted to hit' Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon

A bemused Kyrgios furrowed his brow and replied: "Why would I apologize?" Fuming at Nadal's glacial between-point preparations, Kyrgios began a running battle with the umpire that eventually led to him calling him a disgrace. Hit his racket, no?

"I don't care. Why would I apologize?" Dude's got how many slams? "But social media took the other person's side, but I am alright with that". I'm not going to apologise to him. I'm not going to apologise to him at all.

The last time Kyrgios tried to trick Nadal with an underhand serve, during a match in Mexico in February that Kyrgios went on to win, it sparked a bit of a controversy.

The Australian described the 18-time Grand Slam victor as "super salty" in a podcast recently, while Nadal suggested the 24-year-old lacked respect after he beat him in Acapulco, Mexico, earlier this year.

"I don't say Nick does this stuff to bother the opponent, but it is true that sometimes he's unsafe".

Nadal said that such a shot was risky because when you hit the ball that hard, you don't necessarily know where it's going and it could hit a fan, umpire, or ballperson on the court. It's not unsafe for me, it's risky for a line referee, risky for a crowd.

Despite his pedigree at Wimbledon, Federer played his British opponent on the second biggest court on the grounds instead of his usual spot on Center Court.

"Over and over she tells me you can go to infinity and beyond", sad Barty. I know when you hit this kind of ball, the ball can go anywhere. "I am professional, so I know how to avoid this". So [it could] have been a risky moment for the line umpire. The result? He deposited his shot ball in the net, then rolled his eyes and chucked away a ball.

Yet, he orchestrated the entire thing by provoking Iran, first by breaking our treaty with them and then with economic sanctions. Fundraising success, however, does not equate to votes, and the race is still in the early stages.

"It is not about that I am angry about him at all".

The most eagerly-awaited match of the tournament so far as the pair renew their stormy rivalry, five years after a teenage Kyrgios, ranked at 144 in the world and playing on a wild card, shocked two-time champion Nadal in the fourth round. "Sometimes it is hard".

Nadal will go on to face Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who registered a 7-6 6-3 6-3 conquest of Lithuania's Ricardas Berankis.

The world No 2 stared down his opponent in apparent disgust at Kyrgios' antics and also shook his head in the direction of the umpire after one of the 24-year-old's many outbursts.

"The rule is like play to the speed of the server". Why do I have to wait for him to get into his rhythm every time? So there's a lot of things I need to improve on to get to that level that Rafa brings, Novak (Djokovic), Roger (Federer) have been doing for so long.

"She's an incredible little girl who gives me so much inspiration". He obviously feels pretty important sitting up in the chair. He was just bad.

Personally? As part of the privileged 25 per cent of Australians with both free-to-air and cable TV who could choose between Kyrgios and Barty, I watched the Kyrgios match because of its drama and despite Barty's undisputed worthiness. "But, no, at the moment I don't think I can contend for a Grand Slam".
