Texas police identify ice cream licker as juvenile girl

"She is a juvenile from San Antonio tied to the Lufkin area through her boyfriend's family", Pebsworth wrote.

A manager at a Walmart in Lufkin identified it as their branch due to a "unique merchandising" which matched with the video, the Lufkin Police & Fire department said in a Facebook post on Wednesday. The case has been turned over to the Texas Juvenile Justice Department for investigation.

"Our staff recognised the location in the video, and we inspected the freezer case", a statement from Blue Bell said.

Blue Bell is now working with law enforcement and retail stores to find the woman, who tampered its ice-cream tub.

A police spokesperson stated they would also like to speak with the man the suspect was with, who is believed to have filmed the incident and can be heard encouraging the woman to lick the product.

Police say Blue Bell reached out to Lufkin Police and confirmed that they believed the video was shot in the local store. I don't think I've ever noticed that Blue Bell doesn't have a protective seal, ANYONE could have opened the ice cream and licked it!

The video clip was shared on Twitter on Saturday and has since been viewed over 11 million times.

An investigation has since been launched which led detectives to a few Walmart locations before they were able to pinpoint the correct one. They had planned on arresting her on a charge of second-degree felony tampering.

They've released photos of the woman and her companion entering and leaving a Walmart in Lufkin on June 28, the same day video of the incident was posted and went viral.
